Craig Shelley's 1973 Coupe

OK Guys,
Here is another project that I am working on with a friend, In my garage, of course. Maybe thats why It takes me so long to do stuff, too many stinkin' projects!

This is a 1973 coupe. We got it a couple of years ago at the Autofair in Charlotte, NC. It now belongs to my buddy Craig Shelley. Here is what I have done so far. Put a new front end on the car. This one if off of a 1975 donor. On the front end, we added louvers to the top of the fenders, and molded in a fiberglass front bumper. Also, I added ZL/1 front flairs. I replaced the doors with power window ones. Also glassed in the door handles and locks. We will be using Dakota digital remote window system to lower the glass to use the inside handle to gain entry. The car was smacked in the rear also, so we added a rear tail lamp panel. I added Zl/1 flairs to the rear also. I glassed over the antenna and the gas filler door. We will be using a gt style filler ( got one from a cobra replicar dealer). Added Dropped in headlights. they are not in the car while the pics were shot, as they conflicted with the front frame during the body lift. Added a larger than stock L/88 hood. I will have to further modify the hood, as the injection unit (tunnel port) on the 545 world block will be way too tall for the hood. Notice in the pictures that there is a Richmond 6 speed in the frame bolted to a bare block. We had to make the transmission support. Thanks to the folks at Richard Childress for the help ( sometimes it is good to live in the heart of NASCAR country). Also done, but not viewable, I have removed the stock heater / AC unit and glassed in the firewall. We are using a universal kit from Vintage Air that works quite nicely. We had to modify the trans tunnel a little in order to clear the shifter for the 6 speed. Since the pics, the frame has been blasted and painted. It is the new NASCAR gray urethane. Currently, I am glass beading and painting the individual suspension pieces for Craig to install on the bare frame. The front suspension is the Vette Brakes upgrade that allows you to use the C4 style suspension. In the rear, offset trailing arms along with the Vette Brakes upgrade to the suspension. Thats as far as we have got so far ... Stay tuned.
