February Meeting Notes –

We cruised to California Dreaming in Columbia, led by Tony “I’m an old man” Favro.  Good thing too…it seems most people take extreme pleasure in passing a group of Corvettes, so much in fact, that they also must get extreme pleasure in signing the speeding tickets they get for blowing by!  We had a nice trip and great dinners.

 

Savannah Gathering – The Savannah Gathering is scheduled for 26th – 27th April.  The gathering this year will be held at the Savannah Convention & Trade Center with the cars being on display inside.

  The following information is provided:

1.     Early Registration Deadline is March 26, 2002.

2.     Hotel Information – they have reserved a group of rooms at 3 area hotels.  The Radison is $129.00 per night (plus appropriate add-ons). They have indoor, secured parking – Phone 1-800-333-3333.  The Best Western Bay Street is $79.00 per night (plus appropriate add-ons) – Phone 912-233-1011.  The Courtyard Marriott at midtown for $84.00 (plus appropriate add-ons) – Phone 912-354-7878.

 

The price is significantly more this year than in previous years.  Early registration is $50 per person (it was $25 per person in previous years).  This includes a welcoming party on Friday at 7PM, lunch and dinner on Saturday.  Dinner will be Low Country Boil and will also include fried chicken.  Late registration is $60 per person.  Normally, if you are committed to making the trip, the club will write one check to cover the registration and you will remit that amount to the club.  I am planning on staying at the Best Western Bay Street.  If you also plan on staying there, I would recommend that you make your reservations now!

I will attempt to contact someone from the Savannah club to inquire as to why the price increased so much from last year.

  NOTE:  If you plan on paying the $50 per person for registration, etc., please submit a check for the appropriate amount made out to Corvettes of Augusta, and mail it to Jeff Keevil.  THIS MUST BE COMPLETED NLT THAN 15 MARCH!  The club will cut one check to the Savannah club for our club.

 

Club Shirts and Hats – The order for the shirts will be placed on or about the 10th of March.  The shirt will be of a lighter material than our normal shirts.  The cost for the shirts is $25 per shirt, and hats are $10.  If there is any change in this price, I will let you know.  If you haven’t done so, and wish to order a shirt, let me know size and color.

 

Phone List – The phone list has been updated and will be available at the March meeting.

 

Upcoming Events –

23 February – Club meeting – Trip to California Dreaming in Columbia, SC.  We will depart the South Carolina Visitor’s Center on I-20 at 2PM.

11 May – Ecklers, Corvette Spring Fest 2002, Titusville, Fl. Pre-registration $15, $20 at the door. Several year groups for judging.  Contact Ecklers for additional info.
