This looks like it could be a Motion. The guy doesn't care to find out though.

He's in this corvette club in AZ.

edit: the bloodvette.com site is gone, so here's the picture... I don't know of any other photos of this car.

That car does appear to have the Motion Phase hood, but my friend mike had a mold of that hood... I have seen the headlights, fender gills ( Which I'm hunting a set ) and flares offered by Bruno's Corvettes in the 70's...and the "turbo" street rear wing was offered by alot of people who "liked" Ecklers design...
I can't tell what rear end treatment it has but it's a super nice done custom...
For like $1500.00 plus Mr Motion will let you know if it's a Motion car...
Cheers, T.

Manta Ray GT, Motions own original kit, Don't know if anybody else ever copyed that design. Finding out if motion accually built it would be expensive, unfortunatly, but could increase its resale value considerably. Nice look, got any pics of the rear clip? Would be educational for all viewers. Dave I sent you an article from CARS magazine sep. 1974, that would shed more light on this guys car, maybe you could set him up with A post under custom corvettes, Its definitly A notable piece of history regarding Motion performance. There may also be other owners or viewers that don't have any answers and elaboration could be beneficial. Good to see one, thanks. Harry

I was under the impression that the Motion Manta GT used the 73+ style front bumper,I don't recall seeing a Motion Manta GT with a chrome front bumper....
The car in this picture appears to have a similar headlight design that was done by a few different customizers in the 70's
to give the vette an over seas look like that car with a prancing horse logo on in....
I have an old book that I need to scan that show these headlight buckets and several other designs like three round head lights in a row...
Did Motion do any original designs of just uumm, well, ah..."take offs" of other peoples parts?
Did you ever see the Motion "super shark"?
cheers, T.

The article I mailed Dave, explains everything, The Manta Ray GT was Joel Rosens personal design. It came in kit form for do it yourselfers, or turn keys. They fit 68 and up ( till the year the magazine article was published) (1974). Tyla get me your address and Ill send you A mini portfolio,I have one left without going to staples, ask Randy for the details and let him know your shirt size too. Cheers, Harry

I can't help it if the guy glued A mustang scoop on the hood, and A wing on the back, look close enough you'll even see eklers ground effects. Its still A Manta Ray, people personalize things, thats thier buisness, all it does is confuse originality, to each his own. thats customs all about right.Harry

Harry,
I wasn't trying to denounce a "rare" car or piss anyone off...
I was simply putting in my 2 cents....
I was under the impression that hood "is" a motion Phase hood it always appeared to me to be a 68-72 big block or LT-1 style factory hood with the little front dips filled in then a 67 big block scoop on top of that, I hope Mr. Motion didn't go and slap a ford scoop on a vette....
I realize people personlize and customize things, that's why I so deeply love customs...
I only was trying to point out that the wild mix of different compaines parts on that car doesn't mean it's a "Motion" car which to clairfy is to me is a car built by Motion not just built with some of their parts...

Cheers, T.

It's my address...
Right after I get home from Jacksonville with the hinges that Randy designed and my dad made I get some flu bug and don't feel up to working on the car....
I just have to have it at least drivable by the NCRS meet after the first of next year the purists so deeply love a custom...
Thanks for sending me mako goodies...
Cheers, T.
