"Window Treatment"
Jan-25-05, 02:15 PM (EDT)
I am working on a new rear window treatment.
I am not sure of the costs or actual feasablility yet, but I meet with a glass man tomorrow, and if it works, it may solve several problems that we have with the rear window issues.
I know it works, but again, it is a cost issue and installation ordeal, I am looking for an easy out.
I will keep the group posted.

Give us hints

I'm imagining a straight hinged/hatched window.

I do plan on making you the Silva rear window from the one I have... Just waiting for sunnier days.

If it goes, I should post a pic tomorrow. It won't be too complicated, but it should be leak free.
Regardless, I still need a set of fiberglass louvers for the 69.
I am taking my aluminum ones over to Johnnys for him to put on his baldwin car, just to see what they look like.

You bet.
My 69 had a flat window like johnnys car. Mine also had these aluminum louvers over the window. Who knows where they came from.
If you look at the back of the 69, you can see that they look pretty good. I put them away many years ago and just dug them out this weekend.
I have no idea where they came from, as they were on the car when I got it back in 90.
I will post pics asap.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-27-05 AT 08:01 AM (EDT)

Went to the glass shop yesterday. I had to explain for ever and finally got the guy and brought him to my house to see the situation.
Then the light came on.
Anyway, he is working on his end and I should know more by next week.
I am trying to come up with a simple solution that works, is leak free and can be cleaned without a bunch of effort. Yea, and world peace too.....

Once again, My Maco is lacking a rear window so I am interested in this idea of yours Randy. Keep us posted on how it turns out.

The back window in my old car was plexiglass held in with wingnuts. Thats one of the things John Silva said made it one of his first ones.

I'm missing the rear window louvers on mine too. Just a plexiglass window with rubber moulding around it now. I was going to make a metal set by cutting down a louver set from a camaro I had laying around. One of those projects on the list...
I would be really interested in a fiberglass set of louvers. Let me know if some become available. I'd be glad to help, money, labor, etc.

We are actually talking about two different things on one thread (big surprise here).
I am working on a window set up for my car. That has to do with the glass itself. Went back today and I need to make some modifications to my orig. idea. It may be a little harder than I first thought, but I am making progress none the less.

Second. These aluminum louvers are the only set I have ever seen. They are designed to go over a window like yours and Johnnymacos. Johnny had spoke first, so we will se what he wants to do with them, he may not need them, I will post on the board the outcome.
