The owner of that one burgundy mako with the "motion manta style tail" Told me that the Early Silva cars didn't have hood dips, I think they are just filled in, If I could do it without it showing anyone could.... Cheers, T.

I looked underneath and it didn't look to be filled in... I didn't look that close and there wasn't a lot of light under there either. The hinges mechanism was simplistic with no way of holding the hood up. I haven't seen any Silva or Motion pictures of Macos that didn't have the dips. I think they were filled in by who ever built the individual cars. Are you saying you filled your "dips" in? I plan on making the slotted grills for mine, same for the hood scoop, when I get my mill this month. I'm going to make them out of aluminum, the same style as my '68 Camaro SS hood inserts. David

No way David I would never fill in my dips , It's not that I don't like the cars without them I do, but the three ways we've seen it... with, without, and the ridges oh and the forth way that yellow overseas one that has Opel GT looking ones, each on has a different look to me....I just wanna jazz mine up a bit. I can't wait to see what you make on that mill maybe you could be talked into making a set for sale...That silver show car could have been customized after it came out of the mold too much is different about it for me to judge it, once again a one of a kind. I kind of like the grille headlamp treatment, but I'm a hoodscoop fan vettes need scoops. Did you ever see Steves Z-28 scoop on his mako it looked pretty good. If I removed the dips from any mako then did little more than prep and painted it coated it or what ever It would look the same as that under hood pic you showed, I'm not saying Silvas first few cars didn't have dips I'm simply saying I believe they were filled in after the fact. 'Glass is a magic stuff to work with.
What ever happened to that high dollar mako for sale like a year or so back, I never got to see it but heard it had all kinds of weird and wonderful background. I heard it's paint was dark on bottom light on top. Cheers, T.
