Damn, sorry to hear Tim, but yes, it's good that you cought
it now before it entered the paint booth. Thanks for keeping
us updated, and good luck.

Would it be faster, cheaper and MUCH higher quality (fresh fiberglass instead of patched up fiberglass) to have Joel run off a new body? $6K... and the probably the exact same mold... unless it was one of the 3 Silva created Maco's for Motion.

Something to think about.

David

It's not the MAKO part that is the problem,it's things like delam from the rear tray, lites are tilted, the rear flares are not the same shape' etc. So basicly whoever done the work did'nt have a tape or a clue! This car has 70 wheel lips so by the time you changed all that and lite buckets and filler we might as well make this right. TIM

The car was much worse when we started disassembly. Once body was soda blasted you could see all the imperfections. Things were crooked like tail lights, wheel lips, etc. The nose was not fit correctly. Just a poor job in general. There was alot of Heavy surface rust on everything. The engine shop was able to find NEW LT-1 parts for rebuild. The car had been run very hard! Ihope to have chassis done by end of month. Will post pics then. If you have other questions Iwill be happy to answer. Thanks Tim, Winners Circle

Sounds like you have your hands full. Only a couple thousand miles and it is that beat?? The frame should just need cleaning, then again, I guess even in a garage, the rust monsters got to it. I am in Connecticut, so nothing is totally safe. How was the body so out of whack?? Original builder problem (Joel + team) or what?? I glad your here. I'll bet its great to work on such a treasure.... Thanks

The car was built on a used chassis supplied by Motion per owners request according to Motion build sheet. The complete drive line was done by Motion. The interior is black button tuck, way 70,s. Whoever Joel had do the body wasn,t very careful. Tim

Just begining the final assembly on chassis. The engine will be painted next week then it goes back to engine shop for remainder of assy. Then dyno, should be strong. the engine was beat. Al at ARC found nos pink rods and forged crank. It also has LT-1 style pistons with more cam and roller rockers. Edelbrock intake and 750 Holley,Mallory duel point, It has a Motion control box, but it will be just for show, they were not very dependable. It will have hidden MSD box. will post pix soon. TIM P.S. Read 70 brakes. Thanks

Sounds like you are moving along quite well. 70 model Corvettes had a bunch of unique things going on with them. I did a frame off on one a few years back.
