I now have the frame (in the engine compartment), cleaned up nicely. I stripped the paint, sanded it down, cleaned up all the weld spatter marks, got it looking nice and shiny... and now have it repainted a dark shade of gray. The dark gray will provide a nice contrast for all the detail points. Sometime today I'll post a picture here of what it looks like.

I now need to media blast the a-arms, springs and misc bars for the suspension. I will probably paint (or powder coat depending on my mood) them black. The springs will be powder coated a light gray or sort of silver.

I'm way behind schedule... but that's ok by me :)

At least you have a schedule. Better to be behind than not at all.
I am in the process of painting all of my rear pieces. I will post a pic of my progress SOMETIME, I wont say when, but sometime.:+

The work done so far sounds great. i would like see photo's when the work is done .

I was wondering would sand blasting a fram with the suspenion parts on the car damage suspenion parts any like the ruber bushing ,brake componets , and power steering box ??

I was just wondering this because i know of place that will sandblast a fram and powder coat the fram cheap (200.00 frame only). But i was allways scared that pricey suspenion parts would get damaged.

i have allways used surface power tools like wirebrush drill bit's for degreaseing & power sander's for sanding down to the bare metal befor.

I was realy just wondering if media, sand, bead, soda, ect. balsting works as good as everyone says it will. I hear of good & bad results that have happend befor from people that have had blasting work done.

You must take everything off the frame before media blasting and powder coating. Anybody that tells you otherwise is just trying to make a quick buck.

Yeah thats pretty much what frame off means, to even lift it off of it's suspenion but if this guy is
talking about media blasting the frame and powder coating it for $200. thats a deal and you better
jump on it unless he just does lousy work. Ask to see photos of his other work to know for sure if
you want to trust him with your baby.

Thank you for the teck. help ! This guy i know that powder coats frames has been powder coating for a long time now and he has done work for speed shops so i know he has done good work befor.

Progress for me i have 5 parts left on gm a body 4 dr buick other than unibody for it be rolling frame . Then i can sell the parts that interchange with the 2dr for some of the funding for a vette.

I think that if i ever get powder coating done to a frame that i would just have the frame done as one peice just as the frame with no suspenion or unibody.

Thats the idea... Once that is done you hook up new or repaired like new suspenion and drive train and the engine then the body can go back on.

well as for restoring frame's yes i would say that would be the best way to do a frame off restoreration for the would be to have every thing off the frame. well that said now

I thought i would let every one know more progress on my part.
I took the last of my old buick a body parts off today 6/27 that i can sell as parts and i sold the rolling frame and 4dr body to an antiuqe salvage yard. the yard owner said it was such a good frame that he would try to sell the car to someone for the frame itself with a salvage title then on the requst of the new owner he would crush the body of the car if the new owner wanted it done that way or would cut parts off the back end or floors, ect for patch panels.

I know what some may say. that i just sent a gm a body frame to certian death. but no i did not if any thing i sent a 60's 4 dr. buick to the crusher if even that. I sold the car to an antiuqe salvage yard owner because i know this guy he wont crush the frame scent's it's a good frame. he only crush's non repairable parts or car's that have in his yard for more than a year :)
