Ok people. Nothing against Corvettes here, but I do have something to say about the price tags on some of the 63-67 Corvettes on ebay. Back in the 60' and 70's they were only worth about $10,000 maybe a little more. All the sudden they are anywhere from $50,000 upwards to even $200,000. Now is it just me or are yall on the same page with me when people spend that much money on an old Vette. You gotta be a little nutz. No matter how long you wait the bottom falls out of everything. Why spend so much money on a car that your hardly going to drive. If I had that kinda money Ide by a few of the brand new 2005 zo-6 Vettes and then I'd store them away...... And another thing the price of car insurance and the price of gas. Do parents ever want their kids out of the house??? Holy crap... and of course I love Mako Sharks G/m's biggest mistake ever was not coming out with that car. Plus for their 50th anna. That corvette sucked a$$. Why not come out with a super sleek and sexy new body style for God Sakes.....

During the '60 - '70's they could be had for less then $10K.

What I think is nuts is $3M for a Hemi Cuda.

I agree with you CJ, i believe the Mako Shark II should have been made
and that GM has made alot of mistakes when bringing out new models. They
had so many other great concepts that they could of used but, instead we
get these tamed down verions or BOXY like cars that don't resemble Vette
heritage. Vettes will never be the same due to current modern thinking
but, at lest we still have Vettes even if there not as good as they
once were or could be. Some will argue this and i guess it is only a
matter of opinion but i belive the best years of the Corvette are indeed
in the past.

You are so right, when MR DUNTOV left GM he took all his pattens with him, he should have also took the Corvette name too. and yes back in the early 70s you could buy a good driver for $1,000.00 or less. i bought several . Only have 1 left that i bought in 1974. A 67 427/400hp glad i hung on to it. But if you think the bottom is going to fall from under the 67 back cars. Make yourself a note and put it in a place where you can look at it in 5 years. When you do look at it youll say. "Why didnt i buy some of those cars when they were so CHEAP back in 2005". YOU AINT SEEN NOTHING YET write this down, i will be around to say "I TOLD YOU SO"

I do believe that they will hold right about where they are now. Your absolutely right. But now days it's only a matter of time before GM does wake up. But If they arnt careful Corvettes gunna suffer the same fate as Camaro. Lately as I drive down the street i see less and less and less Corvettes on the road. And your right Thank God you held on to one Good Vette right. My dad has a decent one but hes looking for another to add to his stable. And eventually I hope to get my hands on one. And I'll be just as Careful with them as he is with them now. I know you will be around. And you dont have to say I told you so, lol I agree they will hold. Because Corvette us still really americans only True sports car. I have respect for the A/C Cobra and the hemi cuda other then those two and the corvette I dont have a lot of respect. By the way man I love that maCo you got that looks kinda like the real deal. And for everyone else that responded. I have been away at college. Not much time for the computer. But im home till January... Keep in touch.

CJ did they quit teaching economics [investments] in college? if you spend $50k on a 67 back corvette today, in 3-4 years she will be worth $60-70k. If you spend $50k on a 2005 today, in 3-4 years she will be worth $20-25k . DUHHHHHH

well, Mr Rockcrusher... My father bought a rare turbo charged zr1 not to long ago for $34,000 and now it's "Not For Sale" I'm not sure but I think its value figure jumped several times very quickly. Now I am not a really smart guy. But I know this and you do to, it's that rare options and crazy color combos bring BIG BUCKS. No they didn't get rid of economics in fact I passed that class in both high school and college. We all share the same love for Corvettes here man so don't hate. It has become very clear that GM is going down hill in several areas. I think Corvette needs to come back out with SIDE PIPES and more wild color comboz as options. But any way what I'm saying Mr Rockcrusher is that not all of us can be so lucky to get our hands on an older 63-67 Vette. So really what I'm asking is since that no longer seems like an option other then inheriting one or both cars from my dad what are my options as far as making a decent investment

Ok Mr RockCrusher let us not hate each other, lol. They have not gotten rid of economics class. In fact I past it both in high school and in college. Now here is where opinions clash. I think eveyone will agree with me when I say the next two statements. You have to read the hole thing. First Corvettes are only worth what some nut out there is willing to pay... True? Or false? Second we all should know so well that rare options and sweet color combos bring "BIG BUCKS." True? Or false? Those two statements still apply to todays world, only problem is GM is on crack. At least they brought back the 427 great start. Now how about Side pipes and more rare color options. How about bringing back more then just a couple factory blue and black colors. Why not get a little crazy. We all share the same Love of Vettes here Mr RockCrusher. Now all I'm saying is not all of us are so lucky to have gotten our hands on any 63-67 Vettes. If everyone knew we would all have a couple sitting around. Perfect example of a nut, the first person to pay $40,000 for that decent looking MaCo of yours that's a nut, no pun intended. But I'm sure someone out there probably will. its not just about supply and demand its about affordability and enjoyment. and one last note my father bought a rare optioned fully loaded turbo charged zr1. I can count on 1 hand how many were built, and I know the value in terms of $$$ has jumped up plenty. and last time I checked That particular Vette of my dads has taken a few 427's and 454's on and had no problem Blowing ther a$$es right of the raod. So really its all a matter of opinion...

I think GM has hit a home run with the 2006 Z06 with the 427. They totally suck in design of all their other cars. I absolutley like the styling of the C5 and now the C6. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but when it comes to spending my money, I only care about my own opinion.

I think the styling of the C4 totally sucks rocks... the only C4 that I would be tempted to buy would be a ZR1... but even there it would only be a mildly tempting... I would never pay big bucks just because of some motor that has now been totally exceeded (and also can't be worked on by most mechanics) with the Z06. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but when it comes to spending my money, I only care about my own opinion.

Spending $50K for a car that I'd have to keep locked away in a garage VS a car that I can drive every day... I live by the theory that you never know when you are going to die, so the car that I can drive every day will win.

Tell me about it man... A guy in my neighborhood hes a pilot, he has a SWEET blue z06 with the 427ci in it and it sounds absolutely thunderous. Next to the old 60's 427's this thing just sounds hooked up like Aww man. It says look at me I'm sexy and you better get the hell outta the way. I like it. He has a funny LP holder on the back that says I fly in the sky and on the ground.

NO HATE here man. But if you were refering to my Blue Mako for 40k your a couple years too late. that was before i knew anything about the history of the car. If you are refering to a 70-71-72 ZR1 your dad did great but other than that i dont know. And a real ZO6 is a 63 fuel injected coupe with big tank , these later models carring the same option designation are just spin off trying to attract customers. To be honest there is really nothing an average guy can do with a 84 to present corvette except drive it.
