Last night Bill and I went to a Monday night cruise here in CT and a newcomer has come out of the closet (I mean garage) check out the "LOOK WHAT WE FOUND" posting- that makes 2 widebodies here in CT. Bill was all (can I say excited?) but I have to admit I was too. The car is beautiful. great ride!

hey guys need some help and since this is such a popular thread i thought i would semi hijack my own thread so here goes.
starts out by going to the dmv:
so in az u have to take your car down and have the vin checked if your registering a car or truck from out of state. so i got the 70 working after installing the fuel pump. so i took her down to have the vin checked so i could get a 90 day temporary registration and the guy there tells me its missing one of the vin plates. he is telling me theres supposed to be one on the driver door where it meets the doorjam. and that it is the federal plate and since i dont have it i have to go to a level 2 inspection and they go over the car with a pretty fine comb plus the nearest one is 40 miles away and it costs 50 bucks. the question i have is does n e one else here have this plate in the drivers doorjam my car was built aprox. july 29 1970. what by the way if u do have it does it look like
thanks in advance and sorry about my rantings.

Thats how doofy they are. There is a plate on there but It only tells you the paint code, the trim code, and the build date.
If you open the drivers door, it is above the HINGE on the inside.
It is aluminum and held on with two Special headed rivets.
You can buy these as reproductions. They are not illegal to reproduce, just not thought very highly of, as some folks would change from vinyl standard interior to deluxe leather to enhance the resale value of thier corvette.
There is a sticker (key on sticker) that was affixed to the driver's door jam that had the serial number on it, but 99% of them were scraped off during repaints etc.
Hope this helps.
And for what its worth, I have a plate for a 1970 that was built July 26th 1970 showing white paint with black deluxe interior.

Nope. Just disappointed that I'm not 30 again and could have them all...now some might say that I'm a dirty ol' man, but I kind of like sexy senior citizen better...:D
Bill could bring Angela's phone number along so I can invite her to see my collection of Corvette parts...;-) ;) ;)

they are wanting the sticker i have that trim tag but to want a sticker to still be there after almost 40 years is completly assonine and rediculous. i remember the one on my buddys 72 pickup the sticker was there but there wasnt a single readable thing on it because of age dirt and various cleaning products used to clean the door jams over the years. im going to call a few places tomorrow and if i get a different story from them im going to bite it and take it to them the hell with other guy its close and easier to get the car to but thats why they make trailers just incase.
