Marv, where have you disappeared to ????????????

Been waiting to see some more updates on this beauty !

Rick...Been pretty quiet on the '73 for the past couple of weeks. The shop does mostly insurance work, so I am in a holding pattern while they work on other priorities. They pulled the urethane front bumper and will repair it to make it work again. It had been replaced in 2004, so I agreed to make it work. Now I have a '73-'74 fiberglass bumper for a spare.

Here is all I have for the last couple of weeks...

Been kind of slow at the shop with work on my car due to other claims. They are getting close to primer, as most of the body repair is done and wet sanded, then paint and pinstriping.

Maybe it'll be ready by springtime. Hey, you can't drive that thing up there now anyway!

I know..it should be finished by the end of next week, then I have to drive it from the shop about 5 miles to storage. It's snowing here today, so for the first couple of snow falls the highway crews get crazy with the salt. x( If there is salt on the roads, I'll get it trailered...

I had a smallblock '68 vert that I drove all winter one year, I think it was in '75 or '76...got alot of experience with the posi, 4-spd, wide tires, and snow...:o

That was back before drifting was a popular motorsport for you young guys...:D

Cya on the road, Marv!!!

Update!!!

Should have the car done by the middle of next week, if not before.
They have the front painted but not pinstriped yet. They will
pinstripe, then buff and clean. The car will then go to the top
shop to get a new cloth top installed. The present top is vinyl
and has shrunk near the windows, so I decided to get it replaced
now before warm weather.

Question???

The Hookers have turned into rust buckets in just a couple of weeks running, especially where they come out from under the frame. The muffler shields are okay but the collector area on the pipes looks like crap. I hate to think about tackling the job of sanding and buffing, then coating with some high temp clear.

I have thought about pulling them and having them blasted then powder coated, but don't know if the pc will withstand the high temps. What have you guys done to preserve your sidepipe headers???

Thanks, Marv.

Thanks Rick. I should have known that without asking a stupid
question first...

The '75 has ceramic coated headers and after 2 years, they still
look good. I'll see if I can find someone in this area who does
that kind of work. I can buy the coating and apply it myself, but
don't have the place to do it or the oven to bake the headers in.

I have an old set of BB headers that I will look at cleaning up,
then swap out this spring.

BTW...how's your project coming along???

The '73 is done at the body shop!!! At least for now.
I will do a final inspection this coming Monday, then
take it to the top shop. It will only take a few days.
The top and weatherstrip kit were ordered and should be there.
It has a black vinyl top now and will be updated to dark blue cloth.
Sure wish it was warm weather...:(

Rick

The car is now at the "top shop" getting a new cloth top. Drove it about 5 miles from the body shop to coffee, then to top shop. Here are a few update pix...

The piece of cloth is blue with a black backing as shown and the last picture is of a Mopar toy they just finished the top and interior on.

The car is going back to the body shop for repairs to clean up the front bumper to body gap/seam and I discovered in good light that there are a bunch of fish eyes in the paint...so...x(

Marv-

The ghost in your camera is back. Check out the first pic in post #36. The "stain" is back, even though you just got it back from the body shop!
