Today I finally got it on the road. That is to say, it is somewhat roadworthy. Many little things were not working, and I made some changes, so today I took it out for a little shake down cruise of about 5 miles.
Outside of the paint being bad, it presents itself well for what it is.
The sidepipe cover on the passenger side is rattling, there is a possible dry u joint, and the brakes need bleeding.
It needs an alignment, but the rest seems ok.
I am probably going to put valve stem seals on it in the very near future, but it is on the road as of now.
Here are 2 pics, the batteries died in the camera after that.
more to follow.

Finally huh?? Looks good. Thanks for posting new pics. I think some nice headlight coveras, new wheels, and a cool paintjob, and your rockin'!! I like it. I want to see more pics of the back when you get new batteries in the camera. Looks like it has some room in the back too. Good for travelling. I see potential. Boy, is your plate full huh??

1 vote for NO headlight covers. Headlight covers are for posers }>

Oh, the wheels look good for a Wagon... and the paint looks good in the pictures :)

Reminds me... I think I will end up getting the pinstriping put back on the Maco like what was on it before, and matching striping on the Camaro too.

Gee David- Sounds like we look at this car differently. I do like the lights the way they are, but I think covers would smooth out the front a bit. As for the wheels, they look good on an original, but I think a custom needs custom wheels. Thats all.

Got new batteries (or as we say in the south, "bat trees") for the camera. Here are some more boring shots of the car.
The flash made the carpet look faded, it actually is in great shape.
This car doesn't photograph well, could be the guy taking the pictures.
Standard stuff. Note the Duntov Steering wheel. (I added that) Switched out the glass tops for moonroofs.
In these pictures, you can see the ghost flames. Yuk.
Note the headlamp area. It has been extended and molded in.
High beams have been replaced with ultra high intensity lamps (non DOT) they are clear and look cool in the daylight.
The rear has 4 tail lamps as you can see with no back ups.
The car has a way to go, but I love it.
The last shot is a preview. It is the nose I got from David.
Gonna build a maco wagon.....
I will finish my 73 first.
Enjoy :+

Looks cool. I like it. Nice headliner + rear area. Looks like it was made that way (as it should). Flames arwn't that bad. if it was clean and buffed, they might look better. Just my 2 cents.

Looks good Randy, A Mako wagon will be cool. Better finish the 73 first though and enjoy driving the wagon for now

Yea, thats the plan, nothing else comes apart (for major stuff) until the maco is finished.
Remind me of that later

Drove the wagon up the road and found some problems.
The u joints on the left side were worn completely out.
Put the car on the lift and am changing out all 4 joints as we speak.
Also, the car was a little loose. Found that problem.... the shims had come out from the front a arm. The goober that aligned it evidently didnt tighten the nut enough and they came out of the front.

Also, the high speed relay doesnt work.
Hey, at least I am driving it! (barely, but still driving it).

New wheels and tires arrived today, will try to post pics as soon as I get them on the car.
The guy I bought the car from lied so much about the car it isnt funny.
I am going to pull the motor next week. It is completely worn out.
When the motor gets up to operating temp, it has no pressure at idle. It also smokes like a freight train when warm.
Oh well, live and learn.
I did have the motor detailed out pretty good with the new shark valve covers, aluminum intake and air cleaner... etc.
I love doing things multiple times.

I can't drive a car that smokes....
It isn't really slowing progress... my buddy is doing the mechanicals, all I am doing is remove and reinstall.
(yea, thats what I say now)
I am still working on the 73.... slowly but surely.
