Monday night I was in the middle of town... the absolute middle.
At the square... where the "big chair" is.... anyway....
I crossed the railroad tracks and the wagon died!....
I mean it died! absolutely no power.
It was dusk and traffic, so I had to jump out of the car to keep the clown behind me from hitting me. You guessed it... tatooed my leg on the side pipe.. first time ever!
Anyway It sat there for 25 minutes and no help. That included 4 police cars passing it. They probably didn't notice a corvette wagon sitting in the middle of the street with the hood up.
Finally, a city worker, who was off duty stopped and helped me push it to the side of the street and into a parking space.
So about 10 minutes later my buddy Craig came and helped me get it going again.
I think it fried the fusable link. Have not had a chance to further investigate it. He just ran a wire from the alternator to the coil and took a screwdriver and started it... drove home with no lights.
Maybe this weekend I will investigate the problem, but that day sucked... on a side note, Craigs cancer has come back.
This time in his lungs... he has never smoked... looks like 5 radiation treatments and 6 more months of chemo.... damn.
ka Boom!!!

First of all................ I'm really sorry about Craig. He's been thru enough already !
I don't know why the wagon died on you like it did..... I thought the fusable link only got fried with a power surge or excessive cranking and battery drain. Good luck finding the culprit !!!
The fusable link provides power to the car coming from the positive side of the starter....
If that is the problem, should be an easy enough fix.
Just had another injection yesterday afternoon, so I probably wont be crawling under the wagon for a couple of days.

Here is a lovely picture of my wagon.
Notice the "worlds Largest Chair" in the background
It was taken at dusk in the dead center of town....
lets key on Dead!
notice the hood up!!!

nice spot for a one vette car show !!!
did you find out why she died on you ???
Maybe work on it on Saturday if time allows.
Putting brakes and rotors on the Avalanche....
Taking the road king back to the dealer for further
performance tuning....
got a hook up later in the day.
Actually, could be next week before anything gets done.
Just have to see!

Found the problem.
It was a fusable link, as I had thought, but... there are at least 5 links under the hood on a 72 in the factory harness.
These two were beside the brake master cylinder. It was easy to track down using a test light. When I unwrapped the harness, I found the first bad link, then when I moved it, the second one came apart. So, It was good to kill two bad links at one time.
Easy fix and the car is back on the road. Sometimes, things go my way... not often, but sometimes
:+
