I don't recall your screen name, it's nice to welcome a new player.

Do you mean stats as in statistics like production numbers and how many c-3's came in what color from that factory?
That I would assume that would be something the NCRS folks would be into.

As far as MAKO Statistics well they are only limited to the imagination of the builder.

There are more people that have them, that are on the net, yet for some reason don't feel like participating in the board.

I think some may have bought the car for investment reasons, thinking the car was some really rare $250K Motion vehicle (or similar), but then were disappointed when the facts bubbled up. Just speculation.

This is true, I traded an 84 C4 3+4 for myMako and thought it was worth alot more. Now i have come to face the truth about it just being a kit but, am now very appreciative of this vehical and doesn't matter to me now, knowing it's a kit. To me it's the real thing. I love my car and will be barried with it :)

Sorry i havent spoken up sooner, i've been a member since march, just was waiting untill i had some pic's to post.

Welcome, glad to see you stepping forward :)

If you traded an '84 Corvette for a Maco, then you came out ahead :+

When you get pictures, send them to me, along with text describing your vehicle, and I'll make you an owners page. Send them to djunod@makoshark2.com

I'm working on a couple of new ones right now.

Coming ahead on any trade is point of view/opinion... I traded a 66 vert vette with no engine and needing a lot of work for a running , driving tired 81 to serve as donor for my mako project.
most vette people think I got the wrong end of that deal.
after buying the 86 daily driver I have it made me realize all these are very different creatures, each one having it's place,
driving a mako from ragged out all the way to show queen has more "cool" factor than any firebird looking c4, remember I said I love my c4, and this is just my opinion,
I built more "kit-cars" than I care to count I don't think of the maco as a kit car, I have called it a repli-car but that's not right either, the Silva Maco which in my opinion is where it started in aftermarket is a rebody, It looks about as much like the real mako 2 as the fiberfab avenger/valkrie looked like a real GT-40, if you do it as Silva did it, however when you do things like Randys rear wing or daves headlight you have just customized and personlized, so it's less "maco" and more "custom" vette, mine will be even more custom, short of the can-am mako mine at the risk of sounding arrogant will be very radical as far as makos go.
I think putting the finest point on it the "Maco" is a label put on a custom vette that was off the rack parts.
in the past few months people have gone wild to buy up anything and everything mako, some great bargains some high dollar all expect high dollar on resale, it's worth only what someone will pay,
I have seen it done on dozens of other customs I can't wait to see a mako body with c4 running gear then a person would have something.
I wonder if someone did a true GM mako 2 looking car with c4 running gear would there be a market for it like the AC Cobra market.
It all boils down to what you want.I look forward to the pics as I always do.
Have a great weekend all...
Cheers, Charlie "Tyla"

I agree, and its good to see someone else come forward. We are "outing" all the closet maco owners!!!
I refer to my cars as custom corvettes, custom body and running gear, but a corvette none the less.
As stated here many times, you have the bashers and you have the custom freaks. I have been on both sides, the NCRS Duntov cars and what I have now. They both have thier places, but the custom cars tend to more reflect your own personality than a totally restored car.
Build them how you want them, but enjoy them and drive them. Thats what its all about "enjoyment"
:-)

Thanks for that excellent web link to Paul Newmans Creations. I didn't realize his shop was in Templeton. That's just a few hours north of me along the central coast. Beautiful set ups and big bucks.
Thanks again.

If I am correct, GM used MAKO SHARK, and , as John Silva was a friend of mine, he told me , he spelled his MACO SHARK due to legal reasons. Hope that helps.

I have more pics to put in + set up the guest page. I just found out the other night, that I can do a web page with my carrier. Not too big, but its a start. Keep in mind, this is only a 'nights + weekend' business. I have 3 other jobs, 1 full time,1 almost full time, and a part time job at a body shop, that I don't get paid for. The owner is a friend of mine, so he lets me work on my own stuff when I need to. Last year ,I did a $7,000 paint job on my Chrysler Town+Country minivan. I'v won all the shows it has been in so far. Kind of funny- showing a minivan. You'd have to see it to see why. Geez- I'm getting older- from vettes +customs to minivans.. Boo Hoo!!!!....Oh well - I do what I can..
