Rick called me last week and told me about the article. He gets his vette vues earlier than I do.
I have every issue from this one back to November 1975. Yup, thats a lot of magazines.
Anyway there is a big article on Rare 1's car. You may remember it as the car once owned by John Arruzza.
It makes for some interesting reading indeed.
It is good to see that there is some mako stuff out there.

According to Mr. Motion, that car is now called a Moray (like the eel)
half mako and half manta ray.

That is very interesting! To find out that there was a early "Moray" made by Baldwin Motion. I would like to find out what number issiue this magizine is to maybe perchase one. As it might have some very interesting information in On the 1st Moray to be known of.

If some may remember when i was a brand new member here i acidently highjacked several tread's not knowing what i was doing and i listed a book referance by Larry Edsall that has referance to 2nd known Moray made. Persented at 2003 geneva show in Italy.

Bryan posted some photo's of 2nd Moray & Avalate a simaler car, even though the main topic was abought a custom C2 that was redesigned useing a lot of C5 part's.

The topic that has photo's of the 2nd Moray is

Topic-Custom on ebay
Date-apr,26,05
area of topic-cutomized C5's

I would realy like to perhap's find out if there is any conection in between the first 1st & 2nd Moray made in any way. I belive the "july 2006 Vette Vue's" may help with my reseach.

Thank you
Eric

This is just a name Rosen came up with.
I reserve judgement on this topic.
You can buy individual copies of this magazine.
It is the July 2006 issue.
Check the internet.

To add to it.....
Speedchannel did a show on Carlisle productions.
During the Corvettes@Carlisle segment, it showed that particular
car going through the auction.
It is a shame you won't post the pictures, oh well, so it goes.

I think you said you had a hard time posting images before, there is a thread on it by Brian,I'll search for it.I'm sure Ron will share this.I can't wait to see this at BJ next year.I couldn't find Vette Views at the book store so I went to vetteviews.com and ordered a free copy, hint, hint.I don't know about the rest of us,and I hope we'll all be kind, but I dig the idea that one of "our" cars is the soon to be famous Maurey .As soon as we get through kicking ourselfves for not buying it you've probably got a pat on the back coming.I felt there was something special about this car but would never have guessed this was hiding right under our noses. Brian picked up on it and all of us thought this car was special, but a one off?I've searched barns, and went on more wild goose chases than I'd like to admit, but I've got to applaud you for finding one right out in the open.I'm sincerely happy for your success, and glad you"kept diggin",Craig, don't hate me guys,Smith.

Can you email them to me?
makoshark@triad.rr.com
Or, you can reduce the size by using a program like photoshop.

Hi Guys:

Yep,

Just got pictures from Rare1 on this car, it is insane how good the car looks in pearl yellow with the black stinger. Insane. This car had to be the coolest car to pull out of Motion Performance in 1972.

The body work and paint was done by Rayburn Pennington, the guy who owns the one existing Manta Ray.

Ya know, first I had mixed feelings about me selling this one, and vette vues feels this might be a million dollar corvette. I'm happy that the car did well for me, but I'm more excited that I sold it to the right guy who took it to the next level.

Can somebody tell me how to post these photos? I have pictures that I think everyone would enjoy seeing.

Almost....
Need to be posted as jpeg instead of html. Also switched them from bmp to jpeg.
No biggie, also I took the liberty of "auto adjusting" the photos to make them brighter.
The car looks so much different that it did when John Arruzza had it.
I love the grille.
BTW, I have an authentic pattern for the correct motion grille that I copied off of a new, unused grille if you are interested.
Here they are....

Thank you for your Help......But i see no reason to change anything on this car...Rosen felt this would actully make this car look sleeker and his opinion does count.

Absolutely.
I was just making an offer, you know, in the interest of being friendly.... didn't mean to offend you.
Please accept my apologies. I will never do it again...

No offence taken..........But im in question how you could have an "authentic" pattern for my car when it was the only one built? In a sence this is an authentic grill. Mr. Motion approved this grill before we ever had it built. But thanks for the offer...options are always nice. But i feel i can pass on this one. Have a wonderful weekend.

It is the correct pattern for a Motion Maco Shark.

I missed this thread.Man the car looks great . I like it,but I liked it as it was also.I ordered a copy from vette views but haven't gotten it yet. Can't wait. Randy, you made a pattern to make a copy.I haven't got that far on mine but I'm interested.Would you use single or double headlights with this grill?Mine has the single headlights, but I like the doubles better.

The "correct" grille as came from Motion uses single headlamps.
I got to copy an orig. grille that was still in its box unopened.
There is a thread on it somewhere on the forum.
I can make you a copy of the pattern I made. Also, I have an orig. Silva style grille and have copied that one also.
