Got the old floors cut out and the new floor pans installed. Coated them with epoxy primer before I installed them. I was amazed how well they fit!
Next on the agenda is the windshield ........... wish me luck !!!

I did use an nibbler............but it was an air nibbler hooked to my compressor ! I used the hand nibbler some, and afew sheet metal snips, but you can't beat the air tools !
Rick :-)

Great looking job Rick. Are those floor pans made of sheet metal or fiberglass? :)
I dont think ive ever seen a corvette rusted that bad. how about the rails across the bottom of the door openings?

Carl, the pans are metal........ sometime between '75 & '76, chevy started using metal because of catalytic converters... major problem with rust ! They say the metal floorpans were used thru 1982, but the 1980 parts car I bought years ago definitely had fiberglass, with a shield above the converter. I've still got that shield.
Wayne, the floorpans were definitely shot! The rocker channels are in good shape.......and the # 2 body mounts in the body are in great shape, especially with seeing all the rust in the floorpans and the top of the windshield. I'm figuring all the water poured thru the top of the windshield (thanx to the extra sealant holding water) and the open plug holes at the base of the windshield (being missing). The water just sat in the floor and with the car just sitting for years ........rust set in !
I bonded the floorpanels in and used stainless steel pop rivets, so they're in there real secure.............. haven't decided whether or not to weld the top edges or not. I'll decide that when the windshield gets welded in !
Rick
Weld it.The more solid it is the better.
