I zipped out to "Old town" in kissimee heard there was a vette meet with about 400 cars...sadly it was just another cruise night at old town with about 15 vettes, I was kind of surprized when I was taking pictures of wiper doors for my project not a single vette owner there ever hear of Motion or the Mako 2...no kidding I looked at about 7 bumper vettes and mentioned my project and they said they really didn't know what I was talking about....
How can this be I though at one time Motion was almost as big as Yenko...and how can a person own a c-3 without knowing the Mako 2 started it all?
Cheers, T. :+

I was there at Old Town On a Saturday night 2 years ago in May.
There was a guy there with a red 1968-73. It had a mako front end on it. It had the stock rear. He was wanting to sell it for around 12K. He was a dentist, I think. Anyway, he thought his car was a complete kit.
There is a Corvette meet coming up in Daytona, and also doesn't ecklers have a reunion sometime around now? I have heard rumors of sharks being at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona on Thanksgiving weekend.
Thats about all I know on that one

Again, every where you go, "ask", be it negative or positive, people are entertaining, still don't know why you don't spend A couple $s to advertise this forum in " Corvette and chevy Trader" or "Deals on Wheels". (you can always edit and delete, if it gets out of control).

If I start spending lots of money on the board, then I will have to start charging for access or putting up ads. I don't want to do either.

I "advertise" by posting on other boards... I get a lot of people that come, look, don't come back. Others just lurk without posting.

The people that are into Corvettes (custom or not) for acceptance, want to be on boards where there is high visibility, or perceived popularity...

I love this forum, everyone here respects each other and loves the Mako,
I have left at least 4 forums in the 5 years of being on the net due to the "cliques" of just plain horses asses who will trash anything and everything....it's a real negative bummer to this hobby.

I noticed the same "group" would go from forum to forum screwing things up for people just wanting to have a good time.....

Hi, I'm the new kid on the block. There was a corvette show at Old Town...Oct. 12, during the day. Friends of ours where there....we were at the drag races, Street Car Nationals in Orlando instead. and Yes they do pull in about 400 Vettes.

We are currenlty working on a 1969 Mako Shark II. We hope to have it ready for the 50th Anniversary event next June. We will be driving it up from Ocala, Florida.

We were at Ecklers this past weekend showing my husbands Supercharged Big Block Pro Street Vette, when I spotted an awesome Pewter Grey Mako Shark II crusing by on the Highway. We flaged him down and chatted for a while. It was fun watching the spectators check out the Mako.

It's great to know the Makos are out there.:o

Welcome !!!
It is great to see more shark owners out there.
We have just started to get fired up on our cars, and you can find a lot of useful information on the cars. Some of these guys around here really know the history and how these things are supposed to look.
Don't be a stranger.

I guess by the time I got to Old town 390 of the vettes had went somewhere else... :'(
I really only pay attention to customs though, I respect the bone stock numbers matching crowd , I just don't have interest in them.

I missed the Mako at Ecklers also I only saw one custom the black radical 69 towards the back.

I have never seen a Mako in person and wonder if I might be able to check yours out I live in Orlando.

Cheers, T.

If you were at Ecklers, did you see the Purple/Blue/Aqua Vette with the Blower sticking out of the hood? That was our car...It's sorta
custom. We were parked in the show right across from the Dino Machine.

Also...If any of you live in Florida...my club is doing a show at
Silver Springs Park, in Ocala, Florida on November 9th, Saturday. The cost is $25.00 and that gets two people and your car in the park for the day.
Registration is from 8:00 till 9:30am.:D

Do you have a Maco as in Mako Shark II replica, or do you have a C3.

Lot of people call the C3 a Mako, and that makes it confusing...

Back before I decided to go with Mr Motions front clip, I would go thru the nation wide Vette/auto trader and see everything from bone stock C-3's to greenwood Can-am wide bodies called "mako sharks"...
I still get about two replies a week from my posts hunting the "mako" rear clip, they are always bone stock rear clips......
Cheers, and happy halloween all....

Do you live in Florida? We live in Ocala. I don't have a digital camera yet and the car isn't driveable yet...so it will be a little bit before the car is out and about. I will most likely have the camera first. Our goal for completeing the car is by the 50th Annv.
event in Nashville, June 2003.

HHMcDonaldI wrote: Is that purple/blue/aqua, an 82?, Harry,

Like I said above I do live in Orlando Fl,
I drive thru Ocala sometimes when I go up to see my father in Jacksonville,
I don't want to impose on anyone I simply have never seen a Mako rebody in person and get Ideas and motivation off seeing things in person,,,
I also could take digital pictures of it if I could check it out sometime maybe a day when you are working on it ....

Cheers, T.

Are you going to come up for our Corvette show this weekend at Silver Springs? November 9 (saturday) Registration is over by 9:00am.
