Hi Folks, I'm back.

Just bought a 1968 427/435 coupe that was motion equipped/modified when it was one month old. 35k car, window sticker/p.o.p. tank sticker looks like its there, 4.11s, I just scored a 1968 motion hone-o-drive to put in it. Car is Copper with bm hood, flares and phase III paint with black stinger. Pretty cool, I'll post photos when I get a chance. This is a nice nice car that could use paint.

Oh it's the real deal alright, I've got the original window sticker and protecto plate. The car is "motion Equipped", it is not motion built as the car was delivered to Denver Colorado. The guy or dealer took a 427/435 vette, equipped with f41 suspension, 4.11s, transistorized ignition, headreats, posi rear end, 4 speed, added motion flares, motion hood, stinger paint, l-88 motor, single traction bar (wild)and ansen sprint mags. I was digging around the car today and above the right front wheel splash gaurd I found a "special parts sticker (I think its a sticker, can't tell, its filthy and currently a little wet) it reads / this "part" has been specifically designed for off-highway use only. Since the installation of this part may either impair your vehicles emission control performance or be uncertified under currenrt motor vehicle safety standards, it should not be installed in a vehicle used on any street or highway. Additionally (unledgible) such applications could adversely affect the (unledigable) such an on street or highway vehicle./

I'll tell you one thing , this car is fast. Drove from Ct to Rochester New York (350 miles), goosed it hard once to pass a truck, it flies.

Sounds like a rare and equiped car. You will probably find more 'treasure' later. You bought it here in Ct?? Where?? You live in Ny?? Not too far from me. Love to see pics of this one. What color is it? (you might have said-I forgot)

Did I read this right?
It was not built at motion, but probably the previous owner bought the parts from motion and put them on himself?
Or did he send the car to Long Island and have them do the conversion?

don't know, gotta do the research. Car delivered in Denver Colorado , put into service 06/27/68 per protecto plate folder. My understanding is that parts ordered from Rosen and car built in the Denver Area as a phase III car. Looks exactly like Keven Suydamns blue phase III car, stock headlight location, flares, hood, stock tank filler location and stock gas tank lid. I was looking around the car yesterday, aluminum intake, aluminum water pump, wild headers linked to thrush (I think thrush) side pipes.

Cool, sounds like it is a clone to the one that was at Barrett Jackson a few months ago.

If its a clone, it was a clone built in 1968.

I think that what they are getting at is that you have a 1968 that has parts on it that came from motion, and not a motion built car.
Without trying to upset anyone, it doesn't look like a car like that would be nearly as valuable as a real motion built car.
Based on your theory, I have a 69 that has a baldwin motion maco shark kit on it. Could I advertise it as a Motion Maco Shark and command the 100k price?
Again, not trying to upset anyone, but motion cars were converted in the shop at motion.
My car has a motion part(s) and its just another custom. Thats my opinion, and we all know how opinions go.
Customs seem to be bringing big dollars now, so who knows?
Personally, I am in it for the enjoyment, its a life long hobby for me, not a job nor business.

Dude:

Easy tough guy, I hear you.

Per your comments, I'll address them one by one.

  1. This is a highly documented car, I've got the protecto plate and the window sticker. We all know that without some docs its hard to find the real big blocks out there. This, and the fact that the car is a 35k car makes this car more valuable. The car IS NOT as valuable as a Baldwin Motion car, thats for sure. 427/435 cars are commanding some money though.

  2. Could you advertise your car as a Motion Performance Maco Shark? Why yes, you could, as long as your honest about what it is and were its from. Although without the proper paperwork it would be tough to get 100k for the car. Your car has value, it does not have the same value as a motion car.

  3. As per the hobby/business aspect, cars and bikes are in my blood, I love 'em, but the family comes first and cash is king. I'm in it for the enjoyment as well, but my enjoyment level seems to be higher when I know that theres money in the bank and I can pay all my bills. I'll keep this car long enough to enjoy it, and when something else I see grabs my eye (like a motion bodied Mako with little or no documentation that I can drive with out having a heart attack)I'll buy it.

Everybody relax. You guys attempted to barbaque my last ride and it ended up being the real deal. This car is not the real deal (as far as being a Baldwin-Motion car), and IF IT WAS, it wouldn't make it better than anybody elses car that they pour their love and affection into.

Have a great day.

Not trying to be a tough guy.
I know John Arruzza quite well and I have looked at that car a ton of times. I could have bought it before he got it, and before he put it on ebay. I chose to pass on it. If you think I am lying to you, why not call john and verify it. I saw Every single piece of documentation that was with the car when he sold it.
As a matter of fact, I GAVE him part of an A/C set up for you because he had removed it prior to selling it.
I commend you on getting a true 435 car. I think you are missing my point.
In my honest opinion, the car is more valuable as a low mile documented 435 car than it would be as a motion add on car.
It would need to be returned to stock to command the big bucks.

Its just this in a nutshell. Don't take all this stuff too serious.
I'm glad you got the car and I hope it serves you well. History tells us that custom cars usually never bring what a stock car brings. There are exceptions to the rule.
Its your car, do with it as you wish, thats the way I do with mine.
Being the System Administrator of this site, I could have killed this thread, but chose not to, that way we can all express out feelings without fear of being attacked for our beliefs.
I am sorry if you think we bbq'ed your other car, but you can't please everone.
Thats all I have to say on this.

John spoke very highly of you and values your input, thats for sure.
I thought you were that Randy. He also said you were a NCRS guy. For the record I am a member of the NCRS.

Say hello to John for me the next time you speak with him. He's a good man and I dug the time that I spent with him and checking out his shop, stories, etc. while we were waiting for the money transfer to hit his account. I need to call him.

I'm gonna let comments on the other car alone, I could say some things, but I'm not going to. Randy, I have no issues with you, although I did get hit in the knees by a couple other folks on this site. Look at the comments. Enough said.

Listen, about this car, it was originally sold at Luby Chevrolet in Denver Colorado. Per research that I have done so far it appears that Luby had some connection with Yenko, does anyone know this to be true? That may be the reason that there are no Motion emblems anywhere on this vehicle. Were there any Yenko Customer Corvettes?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreaciated.

OK, got to put my 2 cents worth in here dudes, Ron, lighten up , NOBODY put down the Burgandy 72 car. I , thats ME , did MONTHS of actual research on that car , did not send Rosen a dime because I felt more research was needed or he would not sign off on the car , I made that point very clear, and I was right, he would not sign off on the car. He still won't either. Everyone was and still was clear that the history of that particular car was still unknown or very cloudy before it was sold at the manhiem auto auction in the mid 70's . It's a great car , no doubt , could it have been Motion built ? YES , was it Motion built , not proven as of yet.Randy is maybe the most prominent authority on these cars on the planet, currently owns a Silva short tale car , a motion body car and a Bohannon car and has seen Motion kits built , owned new silva kits , basically studied these cars and parts for 30 plus years. inspected in detail my true Silva car , now in Italy , in detail inspected the 72 burgandy car , His opinions are based on years of study of MANY MANY cars and kits , because he digs these cars , not just a jump in speculator trying to turn a dime. This site is for friendly discussion and sharing of information of these cars and not using it as a forum for any other reasons. I have known Randy for years now and will not allow his comments on this site to be twisted around . I will state one thing from my actual ownership of 4 sharks, We love them but they don't get the money when you boil it down , look at the phase 3 GT that sold at barrett jackson last year , the gold one, the price reflects the truth , that car was wicked and real as can be , FULLY documented and a stock 435 horse could fetch that ammount if it was "right" and the stocker would be easier to sell. I am Johnnymaco and I approve this message , peace , love and sharks forever
