Yep,

Just got pictures from Rare1 on this car, it is insane how good the car looks in pearl yellow with the black stinger. Insane. This car had to be the coolest car to pull out of Motion Performance in 1972.

The body work and paint was done by Rayburn Pennington, the guy who owns t …

Do we have a shot of one in a car? This is similar to a piece Vic had at his shop, and might be the one off my car.Does it look similar to a billet grill sloping from the large piece on top down to the smaller pieces on bottom towards the rear with spacers in the middle and on the sides? How does the silva piece look.I haven't thought of a grill yet but this has me kind of excited.I also checked a picture of your hinges to mine, and they are very similar to what I have.

2Sharks wrote: Almost.... Need to be posted as jpeg instead of html. Also switched them from bmp to jpeg. No biggie, also I took the liberty of "auto adjusting" the photos to make them brighter. The car looks so much different that it did when John Arruzza had it. I love the grille. BTW, I have an authe …

That is nice car.I wish I'd had the money available when this one sold.Someone got a great deal.I've never really thought about it but that is the way to go on a mako.I've always liked the twins over the single headlights but this is a good looking car.I like being differen't but this looks like what I want my mako to look like, this week.I also like David's with the corvette summer kinda location but don't want to go cutting on it......yet.

rare1 wrote: Thank you for your Help......But i see no reason to change anything on this car...Rosen felt this would actully make this car look sleeker and his opinion does count. rare1

Unique hood. Looks like the rear of the scoop has been extended.
Post some more shots of your car.

2Sharks wrote: Absolutely. I was just making an offer, you know, in the interest of being friendly.... didn't mean to offend you. Please accept my apologies. I will never do it again...

I thought I had more, but these are before I moved it to my sons.I'll try to take some more and post them before I go back to Orlando. You should have seen this car the first time I saw it,(in 76).

rare1 wrote: No offence taken..........But im in question how you could have an "authentic" pattern for my car when it was the only one built? In a sence this is an authentic grill. Mr. Motion approved this grill before we ever had it built. But thanks for the offer...options are always nice. But i feel i can pass …

Thats the EXACT tail clip I have on my 69. They later dropped the indentations on the rear panel and went with a smooth one.
I have flaired the fenders a little on mine.
Looks like a worthy project, but aren't they all.
:+

2Sharks wrote: It is the correct pattern for a Motion Maco Shark.

My prefrance for the flairs are on the black shark with the maltese cross taillights. It has a huge fuel cell and the filler neck may have been moved from the side to the middle. The taillights are mounted several inches from the rear pannel so the whole slotted area glows when they're on.I've noticed the indentions on some but thought it was different companys.I still think your idea about a faq's or general knologe/educated opinions page is a good idea. Here's a picture of the flares I like.Notice this one seems to have a stock rear with a mako roof and nose.I love the look of this car,and mako's in general.

dreamer wrote: I missed this thread.Man the car looks great . I like it,but I liked it as it was also.I ordered a copy from vette views but haven't gotten it yet. Can't wait. Randy, you made a pattern to make a copy.I haven't got that far on mine but I'm interested.Would you use single or double headlights with thi …

I like the rear flairs "squared off" myself, it keeps the rock chips to a minimum, but in the custom world, its whatever works for the builder/owner.
I remember that car from a while back. It has a good stance.

2Sharks wrote: The "correct" grille as came from Motion uses single headlamps. I got to copy an orig. grille that was still in its box unopened. There is a thread on it somewhere on the forum. I can make you a copy of the pattern I made. Also, I have an orig. Silva style grille and have copied that one also …

These could be squared a bit,but I have seen some that have the glassed over mudflap look.I usually like things rounded but it depends on the subject.I like yours better in the new laid back configuration. Dosen't brians have the same rear as mine?It could have been another but I believe I discussed this with someone about a year ago.I wish we could corral the various makes together so I could figure out all the differences/similarities.

I was trying to organize a Maco reunion for that at one time, since it is a central location for the USA. Got a number of people that were interested in going. But it also right after Carlisle so that makes it a little tougher for some of the east coast people to go to.

I still haven't gone to one... for multiple reasons... usually too busy.

I just signed on today. Great site.
I've been buying Corvettes and Corvette stuff since the early 70's.
I even bought some stuff for a vette i had bought in 74 from Motion. Customs flares and the ZL1 hood. I have some pics of the car when i had it back in those days.
Along with that stuff, they send me a catalog of stuff. You know i still have that catalog, printed it says in 1974!

Also a great 14 page article on the Maco Shark 2 is in " Corvette-The Senuous American 1983 volume 2. I bought the whole 12 book series when it came out. I've not seen it anywhere on E-BAY, so i guess those that have them are not parting with them.

:-)
